The IEK (Economic and Capital Center)
ITIS of the Institute of Industry and Research plans to release the "Review and Outlook of
China's Electronic Components Industry in 2006". In 2006, the annual output value of
electronic components was NT $666.2 billion, with the largest application of information products. The
fastest growing markets were communications, consumer electronics and automotive electronics; It is
estimated that it will reach 746.5 billion yuan in 2007.
IEK ITIS (Industrial Technology Knowledge Service Plan of the Technology Division of the Ministry of
Economy) of the Institute of Industry and Research said that Taiwan actively expanded the consumer
electronics market in 2006, making the output value of Taiwan's electronic components continue to
grow. The overall output value in 2006 reached 666.2 billion yuan, 12% higher than that in 2005.
In terms of application market, information products
are the most important market for electronic components in Taiwan, accounting for 39% of the market.
Compared with 2005, the application proportion of information products continued to decline, while the
communication, consumer electronics and automobile markets grew significantly.
In
terms of production strongholds, with the production lines of downstream system manufacturers moving
outward, in cooperation with local supply, seeking cheap labor, land resources and other conditions,
electronic component manufacturers in Taiwan have become a trend to invest in Chinese Mainland. In
recent years, under the influence of intensified global competition, some manufacturers have abandoned
Taiwan's production lines and moved all production systems to Chinese Mainland.
In
2005, the overseas production proportion of Taiwan's electronic component industry reached 50%, and
in 2006 it grew to 52%, making China a major domestic electronic component production base. PCB, soft
board, connector and other industries continue to expand their production scale in China. It is
expected that the proportion of overseas production will continue to increase in the future.
Looking forward to 2007, downstream demand for information, communication, consumer goods,
cars, game consoles, etc. will continue to grow, and the information market, stimulated by the low
price of NB, will still have a growth of more than 10% in shipments; In addition to low-cost mobile
phone market, emerging markets such as India, Bangladesh, Chinese Mainland and Russia are expected to
grow.
It is estimated that the growth rate of the global electronic component
market in 2007 is expected to reach 6%, about US $158 billion. Taiwan, the United States, Japan and
other manufacturers will play a key role in the global electronic component market by expanding
production or factories in Chinese Mainland.
In 2007, Taiwan's electronic
component market continued to grow in demand for communications and consumer products, including mobile
phones, digital cameras and other fields; In terms of game consoles, the introduction of Microsoft XBOX
360 and Sony PS3 continued until 2007; In addition, the introduction of Microsoft's new operating
system Vista is also expected to drive a wave of new PC hardware procurement boom.
